Hi there, I’m working on this theme for a client of mine and I can’t get the homepage slider to show up on the home page unless its showing the latest posts. My client wants the homepage to be static (not a posts page), but the slider only shows up when I make the home page “Your latest posts”. I’ve read the comments and edited the code as you advised others to do, but it isn’t working. I know this isn’t the account that purchased the theme – if that’s 100% necessary, I can get access to my client’s account and repost this comment through there to get your support.

Thank you for your help!

Hi there, yes my client is using version 1.0.5. When I customize the home page settings in Customise, the slider shows up when I select Latest Posts, but not when I select Static page. Is there any other reason this wouldn’t work?

Thank you for your help!

WPExplorer Author

How is the slider setup? (are you trying to show a custom slider via a shortcode or simply looking to display recent posts). If you can share a screenshot of your slider settings I’ll try and recreate it locally to see if I have the same problems.

Hi AJ, I have two blog posts setup with no content other than a feature image (for the slider). I wanted to test it first, then add more, so there’s only two images currently.

Home Page Settings is on Static page with Home as homepage (no posts page currently).

Homepage Slider: Location is set as Above, Content is set as Blog, Slider count is set at 6, automatic slideshow checked and pause time is 5000.

When I switch the Home Page Settings from Static Page to Latest Posts, it shows the slider. So the slider does work, just not currently on the Static Page.

See Homepage Slider tab screenshot here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/28s06enkac9jl2e/Screen%20Shot%202019-05-23%20at%2011.21.43%20AM.png?dl=0

Please let me know if you need any other information to assist with the issue If you’d like me to share the website, I can remove the maintenance page so you can preview it. This is the URL: http://www.ameliabros.com.au/

Thank you for your help!

Please, why does your support team not reply on my tickets??

WPExplorer Author

Hi,

This is AJ the theme author. You literally opened a ticket that just said this: https://cl.ly/43d395

And my support staff asked for more details, because this isn’t very specific. Also because your old tickets were assigned to me, my support staff can’t actually go back and look at them because they aren’t assigned to him which is why he asked you nicely for further details.

Now, I responded to your original Ticket (regarding the same topic) with an explanation and you never replied back to me: https://cl.ly/912115

Simply marking a ticket as ” Not Good Rating” isn’t going to get you any help. If you want help you need to respond to our questions so we can understand what you want to do and if we can’t actually log into your site because the default login page is returning a 404 error we need you to let us know how to properly do that.

Thanks!

hello! I cannot find the style.css file of my child theme. It’s not availble in Appearance – Editor. Where can I find it? And how can I reduce the footer height? there is too much space above and below the links. thank you!

WPExplorer Author

Hi,

You should be able to see the style.css file of your child theme in the Editor, if you don’t see it there could be an issue with server permissions or the child theme is not setup correctly. But you can also just add custom CSS under Appearance > Customize > Addtional CSS.

To reduce the padding in the footer the CSS would look like this:

body .wpex-footer-widgets { padding-top: 20px; padding-bottom: 0px; } body .wpex-row .wpex-col { margin-bottom: 0; } body .wpex-footer-widgets .footer-widget { margin-bottom: 20px; }

Hi,

I am very interested in your theme and am loving the perfect balance of blog and store on it. As my site will be heavier on the content side than the store, is there any plans in the near future to add Google AMP compatibility?

Thanks in advance!

WPExplorer Author

Hi,

This is AJ the theme author. So in terms of Google AMP, this is not something that would be inside a WordPress theme, this is actually plugin territory (any theme that has amp built-in is simply not doing things correctly).

The “Official” amp plugin is this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/amp/

Now, AMP generally should be used only for your blog posts which is what plugins like this do, you shouldn’t be using AMP for your actual shop/product pages neither for your core pages like the homepage (unless your site is strictly a magazine/blog type site).

Personally, I haven’t adopted AMP yet on my own sites like wpexplorer – https://www.wpexplorer.com/blog/ – because when running tests, my site was actually faster without AMP and there are some SEO concerns to consider. If your on a quality hosting plan with a good CDN there may not even be much need for AMP, especially if the mobile market in your niche isn’t very large.

Hi,

Anyone know if there is going to be a Chic theme update soon? My client wants to change the theme because he thinks it is abandoned, since it has not been updated since May 2018. Does anyone know if there will be a new version of the Chic theme soon?

Regards. Thank you!

WPExplorer Author

Hi,

This is AJ the theme author. The reason there hasn’t been an update is simply because there hasn’t been issues that have needed fixing. Is there any specific fix or feature your client is waiting for?

That said, I will likely be pushing out an update in the near future to comply with some newer Envato rules requiring that some theme functionality be placed inside an add-on plugin to include with the theme. But I don’t have an exact ETA for this.

Do you plan to do any further updates or have you abandoned the development of this theme? Different elements do not work well (e.g. the instagram widget) and I am worried about the rest. Do I have to prepare myself and redo my site on another theme? Thank you for your answer, and in any case I was very satisfied with this theme.

WPExplorer Author

Hi,

This is AJ the theme author.

I actually do have a planned update (to make a couple items more accessible for keyboard use) but there aren’t any known issues or reasons for a crucial update to do it right this second.

Now..instagram is a tricky one. The problem is Instagram itself updated their site and they are actually no longer allowing people to display images on their site from their website and they implemented some checks to disallow common hosting companies from accessing their platform. So if you are using a popular hosting company and you don’t have a dedicated IP address then the Instagram feed may stop working

There are other plugins you can use which make use of the Instagram API but Instagram has said that these will stop working as well in 2020 so there is not much point to set one up now.

So the Instagram widget will most likely be removed from the upcoming update and no matter what plugin or theme you use according to Instagrams official site they will stop working next year anyway.

Did you have any specific suggestions for future updates?
