Support from developers seems to be really slow. If anyone can help with my query noted below it would be really appreciated.

“In order to read ‘older posts’ it gives you the option at the bottom to see “older posts” and there is an arrow pointing to the left. For my site, i was hoping i could have it say “next” and point to the right because i have products on my website, and it makes more sense for people to click on “next” when they want to see more of my products / posts? is this possible and if so can you kindly explain how can change this?”

Thank you for the reply. Kindly send me the details and i will change to a child theme to make the modifications. I am concerned that after i have added many products it will take a long time to load.

I also look forward to hearing back regarding the ‘sticky’ menu and or the possibility of being able to have a top menu.

Kind Regards,

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

As I said I’ve been experimenting with the fixed menu and did not get it working in a reliable way. The way the markup is set up right now does not really support a fixed position for the sidebar. Also, scrolling is rather essential in case that the menu in the sidebar becomes too long. You’d have to scroll down to see the other menu items.

I have found a solution for your other request involving next and previous post buttons. Seeing as you don’t have a child theme yet, I’ve made a very basic one to start out with that you can download at http://dzkaiz.com/files/gridster-child.zip.

As I was working on this already it was rather easy to paste in the code snippet for the next and previous buttons, so I made a slightly modified version for you that you can download at http://dzkaiz.com/files/gridster-child-carlosa.zip. You’d just have to install it and you’re good to go.

Also, the infinite scroll should still be an option for you. It won’t slow down your website too much because the next items (next page) is loaded automatically when you approach the bottom of the page.

Hopefully this answers your questions. If you need more help feel free to let me know!

Thank you – this is perfect

“The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.”

I keep on getting this message when after I bought your theme. I have been unable to use it! kindly help

Dzkaiz Author

Hi and thanks for buying our theme!

This sounds like a bad zip file. Could you try downloading a new copy of the theme and see if it works then?

Hey Dzkaiz, I wonder if you have a refund policy. We like your theme a lot, but we need to bring over 300 existing audio posts into it and we just don’t know if we would have to re-create them or how much work we would need to do in general, so that the posts work in the context of your theme.. chances are good, that everyhting works out great but we would like to refund the template, if we really, really don’t get along with it.

Dzkaiz Author

Hi,

Envato handles the refund process. To find out more you can visit the following link: https://help.market.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/202821460-Can-I-Get-A-Refund-

also, is it possible to play local media content or is it soundcloud/spotify only?

I’ve created a really basic starter child theme that you can download and use from http://dzkaiz.com/files/gridster-child.zip. Hope this helps!

Dzkaiz Author

I’m glad to hear that, hope you enjoy the theme!

How is the categorie menu created http://screencast.com/t/oM4ANiyIG (we need a menu with sub menus too..

Dzkaiz Author

The “Categories” item is the parent of all the category menu items in the WordPress menu editor. In the menu editor, you can drag your menu items in a hierarchical order by dragging them slightly to the side.

perler

ok, so we need to find a plugin to automatically populate the submenus. but I wonder how you added the little icon on the left?

Dzkaiz Author

You should be able to drag categories into the menu the usual way. I understand that if you have a lot of categories this could be time consuming though. Unfortunately I don’t have experience with plugins like this so I’m not sure which one to recommend you.

The icon is achieved through an extra little CSS class. When you’re editing a menu, open up the screen options at the top and enable the “CSS classes” checkbox. This will allow you to add custom css classes. There you’d add the font awesome name, e.g. “fa-list” is used for the categories on our demo site. You can use http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/cheatsheet/ as a reference. Keep in mind that the font awesome version included in Gridster is 4.1.0 so the newer ones won’t work out of the box.

is there a way to keep multiple audio players open. or to put it antother way: when you play a sound file and click tile (to see the description for another post) this post opens and the currently playing post closes and stops.

ideally, people should listen to the current post and browse to another one, read the description and until they press “play” on this post, the current pot keeps playing.

if you need an example: http://dev.studiob.falschgold.net/category/autoren

Dzkaiz Author

Unfortunately this is not possible. We deliberately close the current panel when you click another one, because otherwise they would collide if they were in the same row.

perler

I have some php code from our old theme, that displays some taxonomy in regard to the current post (https://gist.github.com/perler/10b1dd91b3d4a41fb735)

I would like to insert this in /assets/scripts/templates/templates.handlebars on line 69 (so it get’s displayed below the title like here: http://screencast.com/t/xyHs0qCh7O

problem is, that templates.handlebars seems not to be a php file. where would be a good place to put the snippet?

Dzkaiz Author

You’d probably put that in single.php, under the h1 tag in your case.

perler

this is what I did and the code is executed on the single pages like http://dev.studiob.falschgold.net/erst-kommt-das-fressen-und-dann-die-moral but not in the tile popup http://i.imgur.com/1KKswRV.png

Dzkaiz Author

That’s correct, they are different templates. The panels are rendered through the handlebars template you mentioned earlier because of optimization reasons. They are harder to customize though and not really easy to write a snippet for. Plus it would probably also require some extra styling to get it to display properly on all devices.

Hi i’m trying to make my site as easy to navigate as possible. Is there any way we can add a menu at the top or make the menu stick on the side with the menu items?

Dzkaiz Author

Hi,

The menu that we currently have is the only menu supported in the theme. Adding another menu is quite a bit of extra work and hard to explain. Making the menu stick on the side would probably be the most straight forward solution for you and could be solved by tweaking the CSS. But unfortunately there is no out-of-the-box solution for this.

carlosa98

okay – thank you for coming back to me.

Is it possible to change the “lines” on the menu tab to a word such as “Menu” instead. This would make menu tab and location much more visible and obvious as a lot of the feedback i am getting is that people are not finding the menu tab location too obvious at the moment?

Also, are you able to provide the CSS code to make the menu tab stick or should i find someone that can do this? If you can do it, great but no problem if not.

Dzkaiz Author

Unfortunately this too is not possible through the backend. You could also fix this with custom CSS. You’d have to edit the :before styling of the menu trigger to do this.

For both these changes I currently don’t have the time to tweak around and provide you with the CSS I’m afraid because I’m just too busy at the moment. An experienced designer/frontender should have little problems making these modifications though.

Is there a way to have a the posts in the grid in some form separated or sorted by categoies?

like:

categoy A [] [] [] category B [] [] category C

etc..

== ok, this looks silly here, have a look:

https://gist.github.com/perler/2171da8bbf30e0421159

Dzkaiz Author

Hi,

Getting them in separate rows with separating titles will be a bit more difficult, because the grid is made to fill up the screen so there’s no real concept of “rows” so to speak.

However, it would be possible to change the order of posts. The easiest way I can imagine would be to install some kind of post ordering plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/intuitive-custom-post-order/. Then you’d have complete control over the order of the posts. Another one would be through code, but on the top of my head I don’t think it’s as simple as passing “category” to the “orderby” parameter. It will involve some more coding.

Hope this helps. If you have any further questions let me know!

perler

ok, another way to approach our problem (basically a lot of subcategories) would be to have a grid of subcategories. the feature image would come by way of https://wordpress.org/plugins/category-featured-images/ – how big, do you think, would be the effort to adopt the code from the normal “grid of posts”?

Dzkaiz Author

If you can output it in the same markup it will automatically instantiate the grid on it. The challenge though, would be passing the correct data to the panel view and making sure it is displayed right in the panel. I think it will be quite a challenge if you’re unfamiliar with the code and/or WordPress development.

Is the post order not a good solution for you?

Hello. Pre-sales question. Does this theme allow users to upload there own content?

Dzkaiz Author

Hi,

I’m not entirely sure what you mean, but if you mean whether a user can upload their own content from the front end of the site, then no this is not integrated in this theme.

Of course if a user has access to the backend (wp-admin) then they can upload their own content.

Hope this answers your question.

1. Can i make, if i open the link the first video/picture was open without klick (class=”grid-expander-inner”)? 2. Can i disable users login?

Dzkaiz Author

Hi,

1. This could probably be done with some JavaScript, but it is not integrated and is custom functionality.

2. I’m not entirely sure what you mean by disabling users login, since you’d have to keep it open for yourself at least, but maybe a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/disable-users/ can be of help. I haven’t used it myself though and there might be other good solutions/plugins out there.

Hope this answers your questions.

appapp

how can i disable comments and log in or registry for other users?

Dzkaiz Author

Hi,

In my reply above I’ve mentioned a little about limiting user logins. Regarding comments, I have personally used https://nl.wordpress.org/plugins/disable-comments/ with good success. It’s easy and light weight to set up and has an option to disable comments entirely throughout the site.

Hope this answers your question.

Hi, pre-buy question : is your theme compatible with visual composer plugin?

Dzkaiz Author

Hi,

We haven’t specifically optimised the theme to work with visual composer, but since visual composer loads its own styles on the front end it should at least work on a very basic level.

If you have any further questions feel free to ask!

appapp

Hi, i have two questions. In the footer on the right site, how can i remove the categories from there? and the other question. i want on the first page that all my last posts a shows but when i scroll down it will update automaticly, now i must press to the button “older posts” (like your example page http://themeforest.net/item/gridster-multipurpose-responsive-grid-theme/full_screen_preview/7384426 ). thanks

Dzkaiz Author

Hi and thanks for buying our theme!

The categories you mention on the right side of the footer is actually a menu. If you don’t assign a menu to the footer location, it will use the same menu as the primary menu. If you don’t want to display anything, simply attach an empty menu to the footer location.

The automatic scroll is provided by the Jetpack infinite scroll module, our theme just provides support for it. You can get the plugin here https://nl.wordpress.org/plugins/slimjetpack/ and then you just have to enable the infinite scroll module.

Hope this helps! If you have any further question feel free to ask.
