Currently The Curator is only available as a WordPress theme.

I have a prepurchase question: Is the timeline limited to images only, or can I put in any article I want? And is there a way to get multiple entries for one year ordered by month?
theMOLITOR Author
Hi there,
Thanks for your interest in The Curator!
In the timeline, if posts do not have a featured image, the text of the post content is displayed instead.
Regarding timeline order, currently only one date setting is available (i.e. by year, decade, century or millennium).

Christopher

This theme looks so nice! It’s the closest thing to what I’ve been looking for. In the demo we can clearly see the years but is it also possible to have a clear breakdown per month also?
theMOLITOR Author
Hi there,
I appreciate the nice remarks!
Currently the only way to divide posts is by year, decade, century or millennium.

Another theme that I am interested in. I need a timeline theme that can hold a LOT of ‘items’. for example. This one appears to load all of the items in the timeline at once on page load. I would have well over 100 – 300 items in my timeline and i fear it would not load or would load terribly slow.
Does your theme have the option to load on request, for example as I scroll farther and farther to the right it will load items. as i continue to scroll they will continue to load. Rather than the alternative of loading them all at once time on page load?
To define my question even more My timeline will start at about 500BC – 2016AD. Pertaining to a specific type of events. And there are a lot of them in those 2k years.
theMOLITOR Author
Hi there,
Thanks so much for your interest in The Curator!
Unfortunately the theme is not currently setup to function that way. The timeline system I developed currently requires all items be loaded to accurately show your location on the timeline.

Christopher

Like one of your themes has 9 posts. It shows only 4 or 5 till you scroll to the end. once you get to thr end it will say loading and it will show 2 more posts. you get to the end and it will show the rest. This is what I mean. I guess they call it an infinite scroll. the reason why is if i use this theme the way it is I think with 300 posts loaded all at once it would crash the users browser or not load at alll. What do you think?
theMOLITOR Author
Hi there,
I understand. Unfortunately the timeline system (i.e. the horizontal scrollbar/indicator) is not currently setup to accept items that have been loaded via AJAX and then update the timeline indicators. Quite a bit of research and development would be involved for this.

Christopher

Hi there ! I did not use the theme for more than 1 year , and now I have a short question: is it possible to use words instead of year codes ; like 1.graphics 2.photo instead of 1900 1910 an so on. thanks , Uli

and , most important , when i visit my site on my phone – there is no optimized version , like on the page where you showcase. what to do ?

Hello,
A customer of us is using this theme.
It is quite good, but unfortunately some strings can’t be translated, as they are not wrapped in __( ... ). (i.e. OLDER and NEWER).
And in single.php the modified date is not using the date format from WordPress settings.
Thanks,
Adrian

Hey,
can I order this by days of a single year? Or is this comment from five months ago still valid? “Currently the only way to divide posts is by year, decade, century or millennium.”
Will you ever allow us to structure it by days of a single year? Thanks in advance.
Sincerely, Burak
theMOLITOR Author
Hi there,
Thanks for your interest in The Curator! I’m not sure I totally understand what you mean by “days of a single year”. Can you describe the setup you need?
Currently there have not been any changes to how the timeline is divided, but please keep in mind you can turn off the divider feature and just display posts chronologically.
Best,
Christopher
RihannaThrowbacks
No, I love the divider feature.
I just want it to show 365 days. No centuries, no decades, no years – days. I want the timeline to be divided into a year as in 365 days.
theMOLITOR Author
So instead of the divider saying “2016”, you’d want it to say “Monday, December 20th”?
RihannaThrowbacks
Yes,
I would like it to show January 1 – December 31 with no weekdays or year specifications.
theMOLITOR Author
The divider system is currently configured to use the year method, so incorporating a day system would require some custom development. If you want to explore cost/time associated with this implementation, please feel free to submit a request here: http://themolitor.com/custom

Hello,
I was wondering why the website freezes in Firefox, while it works perfectly in Chrome and Edge?
It has something to do that some images are not protected with a SSL layer… (the lock before the adress line is not green but has a warning sign.)
Greetings,
Seb

Hi there,
Thanks for your interest in The Curator!
I’m not experiencing any issues in FireFox. Is the site freezing right when it loads or after you start navigating the page? Are you using the latest version of FireFox (50.1.0 on mac)?
The site is not running https/ssl, so there shouldn’t be any SSL requirements for content. This sounds like it might be due to a browser/security setting you have in place.
Best,
Christopher
sversweyveld
Yes, it’s freezing right when it loads. The timeline doesn’t come, you only see the image of the loader. I got the error from a viewer who mentioned it to me, because I’m using Chrome.
When I installed the latest version of Firefox it froze also with me. Than I started setting all security settings of (the latest) firefox off. Still the same… than I updated the site by providing all links in https:// ... still the same. I don’t have a clue what it might be. The firefox debugger says something with the JQuery script.
https://www.heemkringwiekevorst.be is my website.I hate those browsers! Every Time something works they keep updating until it doesn’t work anymore…
thanks for your help!
greetings,
Sebastiaan

Id it possible to release a plugin version of the timeline only? I have a website and this timeline is the best I’ve ever seen, so I hope you can make a plugin where we use the timeline alone and add it to any page in our installed Wordpress Theme.

Hi there,
Thanks for your interest in The Curator! Unfortunately this is a theme-only system.

Hello, do this theme supports WPML plugin? And I want to know if is there a demo version?
theMOLITOR Author
Hi there,
Thanks for your interest in The Curator!
With regards to plugins, all my themes are intended to work out-of-the-box with no plugins required. As a result, there are no plugins built into the theme. If a plugin requires custom integration to work, you would need to follow the installation/setup instructions provided by the plugin developer.
Hope that helps!

Christopher

Hi, In the timeline for each event can a video (youtube / vimeo) or audio (soundcloud / native sound) be uploaded instead of an image?
theMOLITOR Author
Hi there,
Video yes, audio no. You can see an example on the demo site: http://themes.themolitor.com/curator/

Hi, I have a few questions regarding this theme.
- What is the limit design wise. Can I make it a bit more fancy than what you see in the demo?
- Do I have a limit of items that I can import to the history slider? I’m thinking of using this theme for a a coin collector that has around 200 coins (maybe more) that would look cool if they slide by based on time.
- Under image you have a bit of text. Is it possible to have more text under the image than in your demo?
theMOLITOR Author
Hi there,
1. Not sure what you mean by “more fancy”. Can you be more specific? There are some color control options to change things up. Example: https://s3.envato.com/files/95341031/2_dark_home.jpg
2. There is no limit to items that can be added, but keep in mind that the more items you have, the more loading time your users will experience. There are some methods to decrease loading times (e.g. caching, content delivery networks, etc.).
3. Clicking the title/text will expand that area to reveal additional text. In there is a link to “view more” text. For the timeline, because everything is the same height, adding text to the bottom of the image would affect the structural layout of the timeline, which is why I went with the click-for-more-text approach.
Best,
Christopher

Hi Christoper,
Thanks for the reply. And you are right “more fancy” is a bit unclear, but the example you showed is already fancy enough for the client
I just saw the extra text that I can add to the objects, it works perfect. I will let the client know and hopefully we will purchase the theme soon.
Best regards,
Dick

Good news…. I just purchased the Theme
Quick question, how do I activate the lightbox? And is it correct that in the newer Wordpress the gallery gets added to the post and I when taking it out of the psot, the visuals remain in the slider? Because this is what happend to me. It adds the images to the slider but also in the post.
Thanks in advance. Amazing theme and easy to use.

When do you update the theme?
theMOLITOR Author
Hi there,
There is no schedule for updates, but typically if WordPress changes/removed functions, you can be sure there will be an update to accommodate said changes.

Hi,
We have the site running not for a while, but on Internet Explorer people say that they can’t see the “read more” button. I did however translated the text of the button to Dutch with custom CSS. Does this issue sound familiar ?
Is there a quicker way to translate the “read more” button text?

Hi there,
Thanks for purchasing!
It’s possible that’s the issue. Please post a thread on my support forum for help: http://themolitor.com

Hello. I have unusual cosmology project website – futurenow.ru. Is your time ruler will work fine with 500+ events or it will stuck and unusable? Does it suitable for short and long dates? For example I have events in 2018 and in 2000000 year.
theMOLITOR Author
Hi there,
With how this theme currently functions, it loads all posts attached to the timeline category. If you have 500+ posts attached to the timeline, you make experience long loading times as that is a significant number of posts to display on a single page.
Best,
Christopher

Hola! Just wondering whether there is functionality for timeline items to open to an external link (for example, a different website or document), in a new browser tab? Thanks!

Hi there,
Not a built-in feature, but totally possible through custom development.
